After a two-year hiatus, stationery and gift boutique Simply Noted, a past winner of the coveted Best of Baltimore title, has re-opened at Ruxton Station.
Simply Noted had a successful seven-year run at Belvedere Square until owner, Melissa Taylor, decided to close the shop in 2010. Late last year, however, she received an offer she couldn’t refuse: The landlord of Ruxton Station approached her with the idea to re-open in the space vacated by Jewels, which moved across the street. The idea became a reality after discussing the opportunity with Louise Wright, a seasoned retailer, and the two soon came to realize they could take this on together.
Louise brings quite a resume to the partnership with extensive retail experience including positions with Saks Fifth Avenue and Anne Klein and, most recently, the locally-owned Ruth Shaw in the Village of Cross Keys. Read More →

We all know that the bride is the star of the wedding. But what about the co-star and the supporting cast? The groom, groomsmen, and the fathers of the bride and the groom need to look sharp, too. The big day makes for a fantastic opportunity to get them great new tailored suits or tuxedos with a custom-fit that will be theirs to keep, not some rental that must be returned once the fun is over. Whether it’s formal, eccentric, or somewhere in between, a well-fit, tailored suit will have all the men in the bridal party looking their very best for photos and festivities.
At Christopher Schafer Clothier we make custom suits, shirts, tuxedos, casual wear, and ties in styles that suit both the young man looking to show his fashion sense and the older gentleman seeking a traditional look. Fabric choices, design options and other details allow the wearer to show his personality and style. Our skilled tailors add the right proportion and sizing for the perfect look for the well-dressed man.
Don’t overlook the men on the wedding day! They need to look their best too. As you make your decisions about the venue, music, photographer, food and wedding dress, remember the co-star and the supporting cast.
We would like to invite you to the Christopher Schafer Clothier Trunk Show & Third Anniversary Sale taking place all this week! The event goes from October 21st-25th from12-8pm with deals on custom clothing and a happy hour from 6-8pm each evening. We will have a signature cocktail by Mix It Up and live music every night. Please let me know if you would like to set up an appointment or feel free to stop by and bring your friends.
If you no longer have your stationery engraving plates, bring a piece of the engraved stationery to The Pleasure of Your Company and we will replace the plates for free up to $50 each, with an order placed for 100 pieces or more of engraved stationery. Conditions apply ***
*** If the typestyle or monogram style is available from Crane or William Arthur, we will duplicate the plate. If the typestyle or monogram is no longer available, you may choose a new typestyle or monogram from Crane and William Arthur’s selection.
If your name or address has changed (in other words, you would have had to order a new plate), we will give you a $25.00 credit toward the new plate, with an order of 100 pieces or more of engraved stationery.
We all know that Ladew Gardens is renowned around the world for its incredible topiary scenes. Then there are the roses, the water lilies, and the wildflowers. Not to mention the tea house, the cottage, and the croquet court. If this is starting to seem as fantastical as something out of a Lewis Carroll book, it may well be.
But if you’ve ever had the pleasure of visiting Ladew (either on a nature walk, or during one of their remarkable plant sales, or simply sitting on the grass enjoying an outdoor concert) you know that the gardens truly do seem magical. The unique serenity and timeless elegance that Ladew has to offer are just a few reasons that the gardens top our list of local wedding locations.
If it’s true that little girls dream of their perfect wedding—the dress, the bouquet, the Prince Charming (or whoever)—then they’re likely also dreaming of their perfect wedding hairdo. If you’ve ever gushed over a friend or relative’s exquisite wedding photos, it was likely due in no small part to the hair. A truly fabulous wedding up ’do creates the illusion of effortless, natural beauty (like those Art Nouveau portraits of women with impossibly long, thick, and sensually curling locks). But the vast majority of us don’t have hair that just naturally forms itself into French braid crowns entwined with flowers, which means that the next best thing is to get the look by being fully primped by true hair artists—those who specialize not just in beautiful hairdos, but in wedding hairdos. As in, “the day I’m going to remember for the rest of my life” hairdos. And who to turn to for such an occasion? Well, if you’re looking for amazing hair, perfect make-up, fabulous service that travels to you, and a ton of different artists to choose from, the local choice is—and sorry, but we love the name—Up Dos for I Dos.
Don’t miss this annual sale on beautiful stationery cards, invitations and holiday cards. The Pleasure of Your Company carries all of your stationery and print needs for the season, so wear comfortable shoes when you go, because you’re sure to stay a while to shop.

An amazing gift! This is actually a custom piece from an Italian artist that will take the couple’s initials and fashion a customized painting of an elegant pewter plate. There are four designs to choose from, and the painting is so detailed, there’s even a little ‘stamp’ providing an authentic look to the plate. The painting comes with a beautiful authentication letter which would also look nice as a framed accompaniment.
