Station North10 Year Anniversary

As September draws to a close, it is time for another Final Friday in Station North.  This month, however, it is more than the usual gathering of great bands and great people; this month Station North is celebrating it’s Ten Year Anniversary at Final Friday.  Come out to the rooftop of the Charles Street Parking Garage at 1714 N. Charles St to celebrate ten years of groundbreaking artistic endeavors and a wonderful, quirky community.  You’ll be in good company with Governor O’Malley and John Waters, with whom you can throw back a Flying Dog and split a Joe Squared pie. Station North has pulled out all the stops for their anniversary, so you can be sure the musical selection will be awesome.  The line up includes Lafayette Gilchrist and the New Volcanoes, DJ Exclaim, Dig’s Landis Expandis, and Stiltwalkers from Nana Projects.  There will also be guided tours of MICA’s Invited: The Anniversary List, which will feature installations in 10 beloved Station North businesses.  Bring your appetite for art, music, and pizza, and just a little spare change for extra drinks.

Baltimore Book Festival

This weekend is also the renowned Baltimore Book Festival.  From Friday through Sunday, the monument in Mount Vernon will turn into a free celebration of all things literary.  I’ve had this one in my calendar since January.  From their site:

“The Baltimore Book Festival features hundreds of appearances by local, celebrity and nationally known authors, book signings, more than 100 exhibitors and booksellers, nonstop readings on multiple stages, cooking demos by top chefs, poetry readings, workshops, panel discussions, walking tours, storytellers and hands-on projects for kids, live music, and a delicious variety of food, beer and wine.”
