UM Carey Law School holds today Family, Privacy, Secrets and the Law, a conference that explores perspectives on how the law encroaches into medical, clergy, and family spheres. (Think DNA collection, domestic and sexual abuse, prenatal care, and more.) Event organizer and UM law professor Michele Goodwin, who has written about poor and minority women facing legal action prompted by health care providers, addresses some of the weighty issues below.
